Monday 19 February  home to Hayes and Yeading  BigFreeBet.Com Cup semi-final  kick off 7.45pm.

Thursday 22 February  away to Letchworth Garden City Eagles  Vince Paige Trophy  kick off 7.30pm.

The Ladies game was postponed last Sunday. This Sunday 18 February they are away to Hitchin Belles at St Christopher School Letchworth kick off 2.00pm.

The Academy side did not have a game this week. Next Wednesday 21 February they are at home to London Tigers at the Arena kick off 1.30pm.

On behalf of the club I would like to pay tribute to our ground staff and the volunteers who did such a brilliant job in ensuring our game with Chesham went ahead on Monday. After Saturday's game with Farnborough the pitch was badly cut up and there were so many divots that needed to be replaced. Steve Barker put out an appeal on our website on Sunday for volunteers to help get the pitch ready from 12.30pm on Monday. It was very successful and  our helpers reached double figures. The pitch played superbly which just shows how good our ground staff are and how well our volunteers did. Would many clubs have been so successful with an appeal for help?

Indeed Three Counties Radio picked up the story and featured it on their drive time programme. They interviewed me and were really surprised how many helpers turned up. So thanks again to everybody who helped and it shows what a special club this is.

Elliot Bailey expects to return to training next week.

Toby Syme is unavailable for the games against Gosport and Hayes and Yeading.

There are no further injury problems apart from long term absentees Jay Dowie, Jack Green and Kieran McCaffrey.

Please do not forget the meet the manager evening on Wednesday 21 February at the Canary Club with an 8.00pm start. All supporters are welcome.

It was good to see ex Canary Stuart Hammonds at the Chesham game on Monday. Stuart always tries to encourage Luton supporters to visit Top Field if Luton do not have a game. This is the case tomorrow and he has advertised our game on their twitter account. Thanks again Stuart for your great support.

On Saturday we started with a 3-5-2 formation but I was very disappointed with the way we played that system. We conceded two poor goals as a result of shambolic defending and I knew we had to change the system as 3-5-2 was clearly not working. Unfortunately sacrifices had to be made to adjust to a 4-2-3-1 set up and Lucas Kirkpatrick and Kevin Byrne were withdrawn after 33 minutes. This did not reflect on their personal performances but I needed to balance the team.

I felt our performance improved immediately and we finished the first half the stronger team. It was important we got off to a good start in the second half to get back in the game and I believe if we had scored the next goal we would have got something out of the game. However conceding a third goal because of another mistake left us with a mountain to climb.

One positive to come out of the rest of the game was that we refused to throw in the towel and gave our all. We clawed back a bit of pride by scoring a goal and coming close to getting more.

Chesham came to us in a rich vein of form and looked a good side. I had decided to make a number of changes to give players an opportunity to stake a claim to play in our league cup semi-final starting line up next Monday. I was pleased that they responded with a very hard working performance.

I think 0-0 was a fair result as neither side did enough to claim victory. I was very happy with our defending which was a 100 % improvement on Saturday and we deserved our clean sheet.

We will be looking at the players again on Saturday with the league cup semi-final in mind. Gosport will come with a strengthened team and they will be fighting for their lives so we can expect a stern test.

I consider the semi-final against Hayes and Yeading will be the biggest game of the season so far. Hayes will be difficult opponents and have won nine, drawn one and lost one of their last eleven games. In their last five games they have scored twenty four goals so they obviously possess plenty of goal scoring potential. They possess a number of players who have played at our level and higher.

Hopefully our supporters will come out in force for this game and get behind the team as we try and reach another final. The team will be doing their utmost to reward the supporters by winning this game. Recent results have been disappointing and we are all desperate to give something back to our supporters for their great loyalty.
