Goalkeeper sees red in 3-1 defeat to Hitchin

In a game of heroes and villains, it was Hitchin who claimed all 3 points on Saturday afternoon.  The hosts boasted most of the possession in the first half, however it wasn't their passing that won them the game's opening goal.  In a moment of a madness, Slough's goalkeeper conceded a penalty and furthermore, saw red in the 21st minute, after head-butting opponent Lewis Rolfe.  The resulting penalty was missed by hero of the day, Jonny McNamara, but bundled home by Kane Smith.  Hitchin's lead lasted little over a minute before Lewis Putman sent Scott Harris on his way to Slough's equaliser.  Putman's cross was perfectly weighted for the in-form striker to level things at half-time.

And it was the visitors who should have gone in front in the second half; Scott Harris this time submitting his entry for miss of the season, heading over when he should have scored, from close range.  Inevitably Hitchin capitalised on this let off, with 20 minutes from time, when McNamara slotted home from close range, after some nice build-up play on the edge of the area.  It was Hitchin's third that was most eye catching.  After some sublime work to lose his defender, it was McNamara again who scored the game clinching goal that sent The Rebels back to Slough with their tails between their legs.

Overall Mark Burke's men will go into their next game with some well deserved momentum, after picking up 8 points in their last 4 games.  It'll be Slough and Mark Scott in particular who will be having nightmares about this game, from that red card incident so early on in the match.  So to conclude in the tone of David Brent and a well known footballing phrase: all goalkeepers are crazy!
