Farnborough's season ended on a high as they won the Central Division play-offs, beating Egham Town 4-0 and then our neighbours from Barton 2-0, the latter in front of 1084 fans at Cherrywood Road. This followed a second place finish in the regular season, 12 points behind Royston Town but 13 ahead of Barton Rovers. They notched up 96 goals buoyed by the efforts of Perry Coles and veteran Jamie Cureton who both scored in the play-off final.

Although Farnborough Town were only formed in 1967, it took them just 22 years to rise from the Surrey League to the Conference where they spent 12 of the next 16 seasons. Relegation to the Conference South was followed in 2007 by administration, a points deduction and eventually expulsion. The newly formed Farnborough arrived in Division One South & West of the Southern League but after two promotions in three seasons returned to the Conference South. After five seasons, they were relegated into the Ryman League and then for off-the-field reasons into Division One Central of the Southern League, where the recovery began again last term.

Our only encounters with the reformed club were in 2008-09 when the two teams were travelling in different directions - Farnborough finishing 2nd and losing a play-off final to Gloucester City despite leading the pack for much of the season. The Canaries fell through the trap-door after finishing 20th, with the Boro doing the double over them.
