Kings Langley

Our first league meetings with Kings Langley saw us do the double over our Hertfordshire neighbours. A 2-1 away win (Burns, B Donnelly) was followed by a 2-0 victory (Wright 2) at Top Field.

Kings Langley started well in their first campaign at this level but were rocked in the autumn when their management team, followed by a number of their players, were tempted to Hayes & Yeading. Under new boss Paul Hobbs, the Kings had the last laugh as they retained their Premier Division status with a win over Cirencester on the final day, which saw the visitors relegated. Kings Langley finished above relegated Cambridge City on goal difference while Hayes & Yeading also went down!

The Kings had previously been on a roll, having won three consecutive promotions to reach the Southern Premier Division for the first time in their history. They had been crowned Central Division champions in 2015/16.

Kings Langley Football Club is one of the oldest in the county, having been formed in 1886, and they were founder members of the West Herts League in the 1891–92 season. They have spent most of their history in the county leagues apart from a handful of seasons in the Olympian and Parthenon Leagues. Since 1989 they have reformed their youth team and also moved to a new pemanent home at Hempstead Road having spent some 17 years lodging after the loss of their previous Home Park ground.

Our previous encounter with Kings Langley was in the Herts Senior Cup, back in 1959-60, when we ran out comfortable 6-0 winners featuring a Craddock hat-trick.
