2023/24 AWARDS
At the end of last season we reviewed the position regarding our end of season awards ceremony. We made the decision that we wouldn’t hold our normal end of season celebration in 23/24. We did however have two special awards that we agreed should still be awarded. These two awards both celebrate the tremendous effort that goes on off the pitch to make Hitchin Town FC and Top Field so special. We are delighted to share more details on the two awards below:
First up we have the Chairman’s Award, this annual award celebrates the outstanding achievement of an individual and comes with huge thanks from the Chairman and all of the Management Committee for their contribution to the Club. This year the award was presented to Kit Man, Derek Barker. Many people commented on Derek’s constant positivity and efforts to bring cheer to everyone he meets. This was much needed in 23/24! Thanks for everything you have done Derek since taking on the role over 10 years ago and heres to many more seasons yet!

We also have the Matthew Malarowski Award, this award is presented annually to a volunteer who makes a truly outstanding contribution to the club. As with many of our volunteers the hours put in by individuals will often go un-noticed but the outcome achieved will always be noticeable. As always it was very difficult to identify one individual from a long list of worthy candidates. However this year we were delighted to present the award to Allan Johnson. Allan never fails to take on a task when it is thrown at him (often with very short notice!), turning up with the tools and materials for the job, he is often able to prevent us having to incur the cost of bring in external contractors. The work Allan puts in week in week out alongside the rest of the grounds staff is truly incredible. Thanks Allan and thanks to every one of our volunteers for the countless hours provided to Hitchin Town FC last season.
