Hitchin Town reached the FA Cup First Round proper for the first time in 23 years, last season…this year we want more cup success! Your support is invaluable to Mark Burke and his young squad and it’s the start of our 2019-20 journey this Saturday, away at Wisbech Town.

To help as many Hitchin Town FC supporters as possible make the journey, we’ve put together a little travel guide on getting to Wisbech from Hitchin!

Driving
It’s a 71-79 mile journey from Top Field to the Fenland Stadium, Wisbech depending on which route you prefer to take! Either way, it should take between 90-120 minutes in the car between Hitchin and Wisbech.

The shortest journey is terms of time spent on the road is a trip directly up the A1, before exiting at junction 17 to join the A1139 to Pamwell. You then join the A47 and follow this road until reaching Wisbech, via Lynn Road. Stay on Lynn Road for just under 1.5 miles before you’ll see the Fenland Stadium clearly signposted on your right-hand side.

If you prefer to not travel on the A1, you’re able to travel to Wisbech using A505 through Baldock, Royston & Duxford, before joining the A1198 and eventually heading through St Ives and joining the A141 and then the A47 up to Wisbech. Once on the A47, follow this road until reaching Wisbech, via Lynn Road. Stay on Lynn Road for just under 1.5 miles before you’ll see the Fenland Stadium clearly signposted on your right-hand side.

There should be parking available at the ground itself, but if it’s busier than expected when you arrive then there will also be street parking not too far away.

Public Transport
Unfortunately, this trip will prove a bit of a mission via public transport!

It’s possible to get the train to Peterborough and then take a bus from Bay 10 of the Peterborough Queensgate station to Wisbech Bus Station in little over 40 minutes. These buses run from Peterborough to Wisbech every 30 minutes at 10 past and 40 past the hour. Return buses run at 15 past and 40 past the hour on Saturdays.

The main issue is that the journey between Wisbech bus station & Fenland park is still 5 miles. A bit more investigation might uncover a bus that runs past the football ground from the town centre, but we can’t seem to work it out!

Club Coach
There are still limited seats on the club coach available; priced at £10 for supporters club members and £15 for non-supporters club members. You can buy tickets for the coach by clicking here.

Fellow Canaries!
There’s always the chance that you might be able to grab a lift with any fellow Canaries fans already travelling to the game! If you ask nicely on our Twitter or Facebook pages or the HTFC forum then we’ll do our best to try and help you find a way to make it to the game to cheer on the Canaries.

Match Admission
Adults £9, Concessions £6 and Under 16s £3.

Wisbech Main Man – Declan Rogers
The Wisbech striker grabbed the first Fenman league goals last Saturday, scoring both goals against Newcastle Town. He found the back of the net again in the Ely City replay on Tuesday night. A few more stats:

  • Played 32 times last season for AFC Rushden & Diamonds, including in the 4-3 game against us back in January
  • Played in both league games against Hitchin in 2015-16 season for St. Neots Town.
  • Played in the Soham Town Rangers team that lost 9-1 to Hitchin at Top Field in the League, January 2011.

As always, your support for the team is priceless and is massively appreciated by everyone involved at Hitchin Town FC. Let’s cheer the lads on to victory at Wisbech this Saturday!
