We can confirm that Brett Donnelly has left the Hitchin Town FC backroom staff in order to become the First-Team Manager of local Spartan South Midlands League side Stotfold FC.

It goes without saying that everyone connected with the Club is sad to see Brett depart, but the move to become the gaffer himself is an understandable one.

Speaking of the move, First-Team Manager Mark Burke said:

“I would like to thank Brett ‘Digger’ Donnelly for his service to the Club and me personally as both a player and coach over the past two seasons. Despite this period being very frustrating Digger has worked tirelessly to improve our squad and coaching infrastructure and I believe has helped us become a united, exciting and strong group which will I am sure will reap the rewards of his efforts.

“It is a great opportunity for him to cut his teeth as a Manager at a progressive Club which has benefitted from another one of our former players in Luke Gregson. We have always had a close relationship with Stotfold and I can only see it getting stronger with Digger at the helm. I would like to wish Digger the best of luck in his new venture and I am always here if he needs any help. All the best Burkey and all at Hitchin Town FC.”

We all wish him the very best in the next role, except when he’s playing the Canaries of course.

Good luck, Digger!
