ELLIS RETURNS
Hitchin Town Women’s Football Club can confirm that Callum Ellis will re-join the club as manager after a two year coaching break focussing on his career.
Ellis has managed over 40 games in 3 years of management, with his successes coming within Hitchin. Ellis enjoyed promotion after rebuilding a depleted women’s team and has been instrumental working alongside dedicated Chairperson Chaffey.
Chaffey said “Callum knows the club inside out, we know each other inside out and he is scratching to get his coaching back on track. We need a manager with experience, someone motivated to win and someone who knows how to build a dominate team. We are looking at building from scratch and he shares the same passion as I in developing the women’s game at Hitchin Town FC.”
The appointment of Ellis is after caretaker manager Gemma Smith left the club for pastures new. It’s a huge thank you for stepping in and taking the reins.
Gemma had made us hard to beat despite the results. There are only a handful of teams in the league. Once games get postponed it’s hard to restart the season. The opportunity exists now for him to again create a team that is great to watch and delivers results that make our fans proud to support.
Chaffey added “I obviously have a high regard for him, having asking him to take over the manager’s position five years ago. I am looking forward to him stepping up to the challenge I have set.”
“We are coming into a window where we can rebuild, recruit and train before the season starts. Our mindset is very much on providing our fans and new players with an exciting and successful team. We know we have got to start winning quickly and we know we have to start by playing with a style of football that excites and entertains.”
Ellis will officially take over as manager on Wednesday 1st June 2022.
