Recap

Hendon overcame a Canaries’ team that was a mixture of squad players and trialists to win the Silver Jubilee Park Community Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Canaries continued to feature Lewis Rolfe in goal, following his stand-in heroics against Hayes & Yeading on the previous afternoon, while the game also featured Charlie Smith, who has rejoined the club after spells at Dunstable Town and Barton Rovers.

The hosts’s side was also not at full strength but was ahead for most of the match, having taken the lead on 15 minutes through Andrew Iwediuno. Within a minute, though, the Canaries had levelled as Josh Coley pounced on a defensive error between keeper and defender.

The Greens continued to push forward, and were rewarded by going back in front in the 27th minute when Josh Walker finished off a fine move.

Goal number three came in the 71st minute, courtesy of a perfect free kick from Daniel Uchechi which was floated into the top corner, and although Hitchin did force the Greens’ keeper into action, Uchechi was on hand to score Hendon’s fourth shortly before the final whistle.
