Delighted to confirm that Freddie Cardy has just won Supporter of the Year at the Hertfordshire Football Association Grassroots Football Awards, for his Motty-esque commentary on North Herts FM. Amazing!

Speaking of the award, Hitchin Town Communications Officer Chris Newbold said:

“We originally nominated him in the ‘Rising Star’ category but the Hertfordshire FA saw fit to move the nomination to the “Supporter Of The Year” category. Freddie himself said: “This is for the club” – which is great to hear from such an inspiring, enthusiastic, young man.

“It’s incredibly pleasing to see a 14-year-old as the face of Hitchin Town FC this evening. We’re encouraging the younger members of our community to attend and engage with the Club, so this means we’re moving in the right direction. Well done to Freddie, who gave an exemplary, impromptu interview on stage, but also to Brian Gray who has worked with him and encouraged him all the way, to Kate Deller who kick-started the relationship with North Herts FM in the first place and of course, to North Herts FM themselves.”

Well done, Freddie, we’re all incredibly proud of you.
