Hitchin host Hereford
Hitchin Town take on champions-elect Hereford this Thursday night (12 April) at Top Field in a rescheduled Evo-Stik League South fixture. Manager Mark Burke is urging as many fans as possible to come along and cheer on the Canaries.
Mark said, “I hope our supporters come out in force as I know there will be a large away following and I do not want it to be like a home game for Hereford.
I have very fond memories of our last two competitive matches against Hereford at Top Field and would love to make it a hat trick on Thursday.”
The original fixture in March was called off as “the beast from the east” covered Top Field in snow, while a water-logged surface thwarted the first attempt to rearrange the match this Monday.
The reverse fixture saw the Canaries soundly beaten at Edgar Street last November despite a penalty save by Michael Johnson. In the match report (here), Mark Burke admitted, “They are the best side we have faced this season and they gave us a footballing lesson”.
