Kettering – I was very disappointed with both the performance and result at Kettering. A much more physical Kettering side outmuscled us and won every second ball and they were also clinical in front of goal. They fully deserved their victory and played the conditions very well.

I was just happy we had the Slough game on Monday to try and put things right.

Slough – After Saturday I was very pleased with the response from the players on Monday and I thought we gave promotion chasing Slough a good game. They probably just deserved their victory but we very nearly earned a point when we created a couple of good chances that we failed to convert.

A very pleasing aspect of the game was the fact that we finished the game with five teenagers on the pitch which bodes well for the future – Josh Mollison, Patrick Tshikala, Desijado Da Silva. Hugo Logan and Toby Syme.

Obviously over the two matches I spread the playing minutes over the whole squad in readiness for the League cup final.

Didcot Town – At last the day arrived where we were given the opportunity to win our first silverware of the season. We started the game well and scored a good goal after nine minutes from one our well rehearsed set pieces. Unfortunately after we scored a combination of nerves and fatigue appeared to set in as we became a little anxious and did not play our normal style of football.

Whilst I would have liked to have won the cup playing the way we like to play I was just happy we dug in to ensure victory and secure a very prestigious cup. I think it should be remembered we played really well in last year’s play-off final but lost and did not gain the rewards our play deserved so it is only the result that matters in the end.

It was very enjoyable to celebrate the victory in front of our very supportive fans.

Bishops Stortford, Dorchester and Hereford – After a hard week of three tough games we now face our final three home games of the season on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. It will be no surprise to hear there will be a number of changes over the three games as the players are very tired.

Whilst I know the next three games come in quick succession this will be the last chance for our supporters to see the team at Top Field before they get a much earned break so I urge you all to come out and celebrate our cup victory. The trophy will be at the Bishops Stortford game.
