Manager’s Notes

We had a definite game plan to frustrate Weymouth and look to hit them on the counter attack. I thought we posed a few problems in the first half and I thought it was very even and we deserved the 0-0 score line at half time.

We set about the second half in a similar vein and it was not until we conceded the first goal that Weymouth started to create more chances. Daniel Olaniran then strained his hamstring which forced me to play three at the back with two wing backs and Desejado da Siva joining Patrick Tshikala up front.

With this being the last game of the season and with nothing to lose we attempted to get back in the game but unfortunately Weymouth punished us by exploiting the gaps caused by the new formation.

Overall I was very pleased with the performance of the players a lot of whom were playing out of position. I was also impressed with the number of supporters who made the long journey to Weymouth and provided such great support.

To have no less than thirteen players unavailable was a situation I have never had to face before and indeed the last few weeks have been really challenging with the crowded fixture list leading to so many injuries. We certainly need the close season break!
