MATCHDAY ARRANGEMENTS – SATURDAY 4TH MARCH
The visit of League leaders Tamworth on Saturday 4th March will, we expect, attract a large crowd and an increased number of away supporters, given that they are top of the League and chasing promotion. In order to ensure that we have as a club have done everything we can to prepare for this game, and to ensure that we have taken all measures to maximise the safety and comfort for all those who attend, for this one game, alcohol will not be permitted to be taken into the ground or drunk within sight of the pitch.
We will be adopting the principles of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985, which currently applies to all Leagues down to and including the National League. In real terms it is no different to the rules that until recently were applied to FA competitions.
We appreciate and understand that for some of our regular fans, this will mean that their match day experience is different, but we are sure that you will understand that the Club’s priority has to always be ensuring safety and security of all who attend the game, and that our priority is the game taking place on the pitch. If spectators wish to go to the bar during the game and get a drink, this will be possible through our normal hand stamp practices at the side gate, but you will need to drink it in the bar and will not be able to bring any alcohol back into the ground with you.
This measure will apply to this game only and will be applied in future only when the Club deems that it is in its best interests to do so.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to Top Field for a safe and enjoyable afternoon of great football.
