NORTH HERTS FM ARE UP FOR THE CUP
Following on from the success of the first two broadcasts, we are pleased to announce that community radio station, North Herts FM will once again be at Top Field to broadcast commentary of our Southern League Challenge Cup Qualifying Round match at home to Harrow Borough on Wednesday 5th September 2018. Commentary will commence at 7:30pm to build up to kick off at 7:45pm, as Hitchin Town start their defence of the trophy they won last season.
Joining our established commentators Freddie Cardy and Brian Gray will be 16-year-old Patrick Sloan.
The previous two broadcasts brought in listener numbers of 859 and 688.
The aim of the broadcasts has been to allow those who are unable to get to Hitchin Town football matches for various reasons to be able to listen to commentary of the match, feel the atmosphere at Top Field and support Hitchin Town Football Club and North Herts FM.
We hope to be able to reach listeners who cannot travel for a variety of reasons; and for those of you that have a form of disability; be that of a mobile nature or sight impairment. We want to share the excitement of football with you all. Please note that Top Field is very Disabled Friendly, there are accessible entrances for wheelchair users, disabled toilets within The Canary Club and Stewards on hand to assist in any way; carers have free entrance.
After the game against Redditch on Saturday 25th August 2018, North Herts FM received the following e-mail:
“I enjoyed today’s commentary against Redditch, as a carer and not in the best of health myself, I can not often get to see a match. When is the next one on North Herts FM?”
This is exactly the type of audience Hitchin Town Football Club and North Herts FM are trying to appeal to and feedback like this makes all the hard work involved in bringing the commentary to listeners worth while.
