Matt Spring will be joining Hitchin from Hemel Hempstead on a permanent basis for the season 2018/19. Matt will be signing as both a player and will be joining Manager Mark Burke’s back room staff in the role of player / coach.

Matt has made 13 appearances for the Canaries to date, scoring one goal. Matt’s Football League career has spanned nearly 20 years and almost 600 games (64 goals), including over 350 for Luton Town, 85 for Leyton Orient and 53 for Watford, prior to spells at St Neots and Hemel.

Burke said:

“Matt has shown in his brief spells with us over the last 2 seasons that he is a player of quality and I firmly believe that the experience he will be able to pass onto our younger players will prove invaluable to their and the teams development.”

Meanwhile, Conor Vincent has decided to move back to Biggleswade Town after one season with the Canaries. Mark Burke said:

“I received a phone call from Conor late last night informing me that he wished to return to the Waders and thanked me and my staff for the opportunity to play for Hitchin. I am obviously disappointed to lose Conor because despite an indifferent season he showed a lot of potential that I believe we could have worked on to improve him as a player with another season under his belt. However, it is not to be and I wish him the best of luck in the future”.
