Re: John Gray AKA Hitchin John

There are quite a few lifelong supporters of Hitchin Town Football Club but John was one of the best, dedicated & a true gent. Brian you can be very proud of him, which I'm sure you are. We'll all miss him at Top Field. This doesn't mean, Brian, you can be sloppy with your radio commentaries. He'll ...

Peterborough Sporting

Perhaps Peterborough Sports should consider changing their name to Peterborough Sporting because, as has been mentioned on this forum already, after Hitchin had totally played the home side off the pitch for the full 90 mins as the Hitchin fans were leaving at the end of the game the Peterborough ma...

Peterborough journey home alert tuesday

Hi this is to let those of you travelling to Peterborough for Tuesday's fixture, in particular those on the team coach who are being picked up when the coach gets back, that the A1 will be closed southbound from 8pm just before Buckden. The detour will take traffic eastbound on the new stretch of th...

Re: History Today

Anthony is that the same Gordon Guile who played for Baldock Town in the days that they played at the park ground, a little balding winger? He was very quick but it was sad frequently that if you opened the gate at the end of the ground he would've kept running with the ball rather than delivering a...

Re: Gutted

The 1st half of his set was acoustic. He sat on a bar stool, as the folky acts did at that time, with his guitar on his knee & a spliff on the go which, after a few puffs, he lobbed into the audience to pass around, happy days. The 2nd half was his electric stuff with Ronnie Laine on bass & Planty &...

Re: Gutted

Anthony yet another example of your knowledge of obscure entertainers. I've racked my brains in case it's another one of your plays on words but came up with nothing. What is soukous? My "gutted" moment occurred in 1972 but I wasn't gutted until a few years later. My mate at school was a big Led Zep...

Re: Isthmian League rights – own goal

Brett's recent photo's will all be colourful, yellow shirt, green shorts & red card 😁. Obviously the earlier ones will be in black & white as colour film was in its infancy back then 😯.

Re: Isthmian League rights – own goal

Sounds like the same mentality the town councillors have who impose exorbitant town centre car parking charges & high business rates for the shops & then can't understand why nobody shops in the town & shops are left empty. These people only see revenue from those willing to pay rather than the big ...

Re: Dunstable Town 2 Harpenden Town 2

I hadn't realised that the once cocky Dunstable Town had plummeted into the South Midlands league. How embarrassing for them especially with the flegling AFC Dunstable in the Southern League div 1.

Re: Billericay match off after vandal damage

In the 1970's that would have been deemed playable. To have that much grass in November would have been praised 😁.
