Re: Robin Froy (Shay)

Just seen this, very sad. Actually there were 2 things Shay will be remembered for, the other being the announcement, & it may have been you Mick on the annoy, of the winners of the guess the gate competition, "Shay on the gate" &...... we never heard who the other person was due to the entire crowd...

Re: Sept 1971

I only went once to Kingstonian's old ground & I'd go with that. Either you got there early or more likely they had just closed the bar in the clubhouse after the game 😁.

Re: Antique rattle?

Chances are if you were to take one to a top flight game, when football resumes & fans are allowed in, the stewards may well confiscate it as it would be deemed to be a weapon! It could do some damage if you hit someone with it. How times have changed. I had one as a kid, along with a rosette. Apart...

Re: Opposition players

John Swannell the Hendon keeper in the late 60's & 70's (England amateur international keeper who kept Charlie Turner out of the side) especially at Claremont Road, would lean on the fence behind the goal & have a chat as the game spent quite a lot of the time in Hitchin's half. Les Cleveley, Carsha...

Re: Lock Down Reading

I hate to be a killjoy but before any of you rush to order some of these books online spare a thought for the staff travelling to work to process, pick & pack these books & the delivery driver, out every day to get them to your door rather than being able to stay at home safely. My other half works ...

Re: Lockdown Photos

Surely those 2 should be social distancing, one on each post😁. At least you'll have time to fix that goal net Geoff. Take care & keep safe.

Re: John Gray AKA Hitchin John

There are quite a few lifelong supporters of Hitchin Town Football Club but John was one of the best, dedicated & a true gent. Brian you can be very proud of him, which I'm sure you are. We'll all miss him at Top Field. This doesn't mean, Brian, you can be sloppy with your radio commentaries. He'll ...

Peterborough Sporting

Perhaps Peterborough Sports should consider changing their name to Peterborough Sporting because, as has been mentioned on this forum already, after Hitchin had totally played the home side off the pitch for the full 90 mins as the Hitchin fans were leaving at the end of the game the Peterborough ma...

Peterborough journey home alert tuesday

Hi this is to let those of you travelling to Peterborough for Tuesday's fixture, in particular those on the team coach who are being picked up when the coach gets back, that the A1 will be closed southbound from 8pm just before Buckden. The detour will take traffic eastbound on the new stretch of th...

Re: History Today

Anthony is that the same Gordon Guile who played for Baldock Town in the days that they played at the park ground, a little balding winger? He was very quick but it was sad frequently that if you opened the gate at the end of the ground he would've kept running with the ball rather than delivering a...
