The hotel used to be part of Thurrock Technical College, also known as Bushy Bit. I used to go there between 1975 and 1977 on day release from work. I would get a bus to Aveley village and then walk down Ship Lane. Quite perilous.

Luton's wage bill in 2021-22 was 101% of income, in 2020-21 it was 111% of income. The Championship clubs all spend too much in a bid to win promotion. That said, Luton's wage bill was one of the lowest in the division.

I agree the pitch looked superb, but I feel artificial pitches are theway ahead for nonleague clubs of Hitchin's size. The pitch is a commercial asset.
