Re: Charles Worbey: The Link Man
Charles Worbey was born in Hitchin on 10th Feb 1879. He died on 11th July 1957, aged 78, and is interred at Hitchin's St Johns Road cemetery, within yards of William Tindall Lucas, William Hill, and Francis Shillitoe. He was a full-back on the right or left, and I've found a few Hitchin Town FC matc...

Re: Charles Worbey: The Link Man
Perhaps I should leave this thread until we know if the current family members (grandchildren and great nephews and nieces) are happy to let me continue!

Charles Worbey: The Link Man
A player for Hitchin and Hertfordshire in Edwardian times, and a committee man in the 1928 revival. I'll add further details of this important figure in Club history if anyone is interested.

Leonard Stokes Hart: Chairman
By the time we celebrate the centenary of the Hitchin Town Football Club in 2028, perhaps Mr Leonard Stokes Hart, the Club's first chairman could be considered for adding to our Hall of Fame? Born 7th October 1881 in Tillingham, Essex, Len arrived in Hitchin as an elementary school teacher, marrying...

Supporters' Club
With our influx of new young tech-savvy fans, its just a matter of time before a supporters' club available to all fans arises. With the centenary of the third Hitchin Football Club coming soon, in 2028, I found this article revealing: SECOND LANDMARK The forming of a Supporters' Club was the second...

Re: LGBTQ+ Supporters club Commitee members wanted
No thank you. I would not want to be a member of any group that would allow me to join it (except an all-inclusive one, of course). I am sure forum members will know that I am just trying to get a little discussion going on a forum where little happens.

Re: LGBTQ+ Supporters club Commitee members wanted
Nice to see an organised group of Hitchin Town supporters. Nicer still if there was a supporters' club for fans of all and every persuasion. An exclusive group seems to be putting the cart before the horse?

Re: Best Book Hitchin Town History
For the early history of the first Hitchin Football Club, the Talk Football section of our forum is useful. Search 'An Auspicious Beginning'. There you'll find match reports and local press comments. And Francis Shillitoe did not live at Foxholes (William Tindall Lucas did!)
