Whatever went wrong?

Whatever happened at Rushden? After three encouraging performances how come we were walloped so comprehensively? I wasn't there but reading Pipeman's report it sounded as though we started the game rather as though we were the home side, taking the game to the opposition and getting caught repeatedl...

It's less than two weeks away now, so when are we likely to find out who and where we will be playing?

Article in national press

There was a large (3 columns) article in yesterday's copy of the i newspaper by their football correspondent Sam Cunningham entitled 'Hitchin and the heart-warming stories of non-league football'. It concerned the club's attempt to raise £25,000 to renovate the stadium in order to survive and save t...

Re: Are you sitting comfortably? then I'll begin..........

I came into this world on 28 February 1938 at Bedford Road hospital and can still remember (just) Hitchin playing in the Herts and Middlesex league. Subsequently when the first post war season started I remember wondering what on earth are we doing in this so-called Athenian League. And what are the...

Re: All games off for the next 2 weeks at least

Can't see the point in cancelling games for eight days only. We know things are going to get worse. In the meantime we lose the income from two home games. As well as the virus it's going to be tough financially as six of our last ten league games would have been at home.

Re: INFO WANTED

I remember Allah, he did what has been described at every home game, but I am unable to elaborate much beyond that. He goes right back to the war years and possibly before that.

Re: Prediction - LOWESTOFT

We as usual showed once again that we are unable to breakdown teams that are set up to defend. We go at them and leave gaps that leave us vulnerable to the counter attack. Barwell was the exception where a visiting team brought the game to us and for once left us with plenty of room to exploit at th...

Re: History Today

The Gordan Guile of 1959 was quick and quite an aggresive player, but his opportunities in his favourite position on the left wing were few and far between as Tony Horne was usually preferred. Tony was a very cultured winger and together with Tommy Everitt and Johnny Graves formed arguably the best ...
