Top Field 150?

On 15th November 1873 the Hertford Mercury reported that Hitchin FC drew 0-0 with Cambridge on Saturday 8th November 1873 'in the field opposite Mr W.Lucas's, on the Bedford Road'. Was this the first match played at Top Field by Hitchin FC?

Hitchin Youth 3 Shefford & Campton 2

Last night's match. After a forgettable first half, Hitchin soon went two nil up early in the second half. Shefford replied with two goals of their own, before Hitchin scored a third near the end. The last kick of the match saw a Shefford shot hit the post.........

Kettering Football Sensation 1905

For the 1905/6 season cash-strapped Hitchin, £50 in debt, had to dispense with paid players for a time. Re: FA Youth Cup v Royston- HTFC Radio

I tuned in for the pre-match info; very informative and useful background to the game. An entertaining end-to-end game, I thought, ending 5-3 to Hitchin.
Hitchin's passing game versus Royston's set-piece excellence.
