On 15th November 1873 the Hertford Mercury reported that Hitchin FC drew 0-0 with Cambridge on Saturday 8th November 1873 'in the field opposite Mr W.Lucas's, on the Bedford Road'. Was this the first match played at Top Field by Hitchin FC?
