Re: Lifting Of Social/Crowd Restrictions from 19th July.
There’s nothing political about this discussion, Chris, just concerns about health and safety. It’s clear to many that having too many people increases the risk, which is why I didn’t attend yesterday after the uncomfortable situation last week against Luton. The hypocrisy is ridiculous, it’s ok to ...

Re: Lifting Of Social/Crowd Restrictions from 19th July.
I agree with you, Colin. The Euro crowds at Wembley have been very irresponsible in my view and inviting trouble. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have another lockdown. We shall surely see an upturn again after the Euros. The virus may change pub life forever, personally I prefer the continental appro...

Re: The Last Time England beat Italy In Football.
The last time England beat Italy in a competitive match was in 1977 - World Cup qualifier at Wembley 2-0 (Keegan and Brooking). I was there! The 1934 game was the first time England ever beat Italy, but hit was also the second meeting between the two countries. Italy were World Cup holders at the ti...

Re: Sutton United and Hornchurch
I gather Sutton have new investment to cover the costs. Most clubs with artificial pitches have cash set aside for a deteriorating asset. Short sighted not to.

Re: A New Era: The Canary Returns
Actually, Stewart, you should probably remove my name from the credits. I played no part at all in the project, in fact I was not aware of it and wouldn't like people to think I am taking credit for something I wasn't remotely involved in. Cheers.

Re: Where Did All the Forum Users Go?
I think there’s another reason and it’s a general comment about social media trends. Forums were originally set up for debate, but current trends seem to discourage contrasting views. In other words, disagreement is interpreted as “you’re with us or against us”. Football seems to demand 100% blind l...

Re: Hitchin Town mention
I knew about this but the info is a bit wrong...it was club president Syd Stapleton that talked about the illegal payments and Laurie Scott was not dismissed because of it. Scott went because of decline on the pitch.

Re: VAR Does Not Work
VAR does work if used properly. The technology is there, it is the way it is being applied - referees are using it as a crutch, play is being brought back and minuscule fractions are being used to determine offside decisions. For a goal to be scored, the ball has to be completely over the line, for ...

Re: The Day A Wren Turned Into A Canary
Peter Hills, Chairman of Hereford. Nice fellow. I wonder what happened to him, he was not liked by the fans for some reason. I remember that Canary, Peter....a great day, and afterwards I had to go to Shrewsbury from Hereford by train to attend a wedding reception of a friend. I didn't get back from...
