Re: BERT SMITH

Lots of photos out there Mick, he won the FA Cup in 1921 and had a little bit of trouble for foul language. Spurs legend…

Re: What drives your passion for the beautiful game?

I started following football in 1967 and became a Chelsea fan at the FA Cup final that year. Football was a distraction from a fairly miserable family life in which my parents split and re split. For years, I followed Chelsea home and away, until the late 1980s. When I moved to Hitchin in 1987, it s...

Re: Ticketing 2022/23

Rupert… say the club loses no more than four or five fans per game, which equates to around £1000 per year. More on big games. It doesn’t sound a lot but that’s say 1% of the average crowd? Obviously that’s a figure plucked out of the air, but it could be higher/lower. That’s the cost of convenience.

Re: Ticketing 2022/23

I agree with Kate that TF is a better place to visit, but I think it might be worth doing some research around volunteering and why folk are not willing to come forward. It’s something I suggested some years back and nobody wanted to ask the question, but now that the club is struggling to get them,...

Re: Ticketing 2022/23

Nobody is going to quibble who has bought online, Chris. That’s not the issue. Ok, I understand lack of volunteers, if that’s a problem. I stilll believe nonleague benefits from adhoc support and Hitchin are missing a trick. Obviously, the club is comfortable with this, and crowds are very decent, s...

Re: Ticketing 2022/23

There are two issues here, cashless stadium and the facility of being able to buy a ticket on the day or on an ad-hoc basis. The first is quite clear, if it suits the club from a logistical and security aspect, then ok. Cashless has its benefits. But the real issue as I see it is having the chance t...

Re: Ticketing 2022/23

Absolutely agree Colin. I am happy with removing the need to carry cash. I don’t get the advanced ticket thing at non league level at all but clearly it has worked at Hitchin. I was in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago, and it was amazing how few places took cash.

The financial accounts are available to anyone. Go to this link: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/03210431/filing-history They are not full accounts (micro), so it is difficult to see exactly what's happening, but creditors ( 1 year plus) are owed £ 299,000 The next...
