We’re still currently in the relegation zone.
Southern League is still yet to update their league table standings - it’s bottom two and then PPG. As things stand tonight, I believe we’d be safe.

Of course a long way to go. But get Gleeson and Jake back as well and we are heading for the heady heights of mid table at this point. :happy2:

If we can maintain our upturn in form then hopefully the PPG scenario will become irrelevant, but for now, after today's games....

Points per game – Step 3 worst teams (PPG < 1):

Merthyr 0.55 -> 0.52
Wimborne 0.39 -> 0.42 -> 0.55
Leatherhead 0.47 -> 0.6 -> 0.57
Grantham 0.65 -> 0.62 -> 0.61
Kings Langley 0.68 -> 0.67
Cray 0.83 -> 0.79
East Thurrock 0.74 -> 0.81
Nuneaton 0.8 ->0.76 -> 0.83
Mickleover 0.91 -> 0.84
Lowestoft 0.9 -> 0.86
Hitchin 0.65 -> 0.76 -> 0.87
Wingate & F 0.85 -> 0.91
Nantwich 0.95 -> 0.91
Brightlingsea 0.74 -> 0.95
Hartley Wintney 0.8 -> 0.96
Dorchester 0.96

Have highlighted team names for those in the same division in the same colour.

To add today's useless stat - only three teams are unbeaten in their last three games - Banbury, Rushall and Hitchin.

After a long day supporting the team at Leiston I haven't had time to update the relegation stats but I can confirm that as things stand Hitchin are not currently in a relegation position.

Brilliant to see so many Hitchin travellers continuing to support their team at the game today.

I have just re-read the latest weekly bulletin from management. They throw a bone to our terrific fans by thanking them for the fine attendance numbers.They will never address the issue that the club invariably finishes far lower down in the league table than the attendance numbers. Management are quite happy to read how poor the club is on this forum. If they avoid relegation they can say how well the club has done on a low budget. I, for one, am fed up with poor starts and wondering all season if we can stay up. I refuse to believe that this club cannot do better. Time for a change? There must be somebody who can take over, bring in a different philosophy in management, budgeting, marketing and revenue streams. I have always compared Hitchin to Newcastle as teams that do not give the fans the team they deserve. Seeme like Newcastle have solved their problems!

So all we need to do is get a gulf state to sponser us. No problem.

Seriously though we desperately need to be able to fund a better team, but that's far from easy. This team displays plenty of effort but lacks pace and a cutting edge. The number of single goal defeats is frustrating. If we could have turned half of those into draws we would be close to safety.
