First photo is definately taken from the Fishponds Road end. Second is from the other end, with the old wooden east stand in the background. I remember the Supporters Club sign although not sure of why it was there. Possibly an area reserved for them although I don't remember it as such.

The buildings behind were used to make searchlights during the war I was told.
During long dry spells the outline of the foundations can still be seen in the grass.

They really were fabulous photos. I love how past is immortalised in pictures.

Interesting history around Hitchin, love the searchlight story.

Steve mowed the pitch in the evening using the light from the searchlights too :thumbsup:
