Just read the Museum tweet referring to Bert Smith.
Anybody remember Bert in his twilight years at the Club? My recollections are a bit faint but may well be revived if anybody can find an old picture or provide an anecdote?
Was Bert a POW on the Burma Railway or am I thinking about one of the other 80 yr old characters helping around the ground back in the 60s?

Re: BERT SMITH
Reg Brown was the former POW who became the dressing room steward and welcomed visiting teams and officials.
We still call the room where the water cylinders are and where he kept his cleaning materials as Reggie’s Room.
His Brother Claude played for Hitchin with Dennis Chapman, both are sadly no longer with us.

Quite right Steve - I thought I may have got that wrong. I remember Reg as well of course.
Come on you old timers out there - must be somebody else who goes back to the mid sixties? I need to get hold of Al Norse.

Re: BERT SMITH
Lots of photos out there Mick, he won the FA Cup in 1921 and had a little bit of trouble for foul language. Spurs legend…
