Billy Minter a Canary?

Post by anthony.brown »

Fishponder's stats are a constant source of juicy morsels. In the list of players one reads of a W.H.Minter, signed from St Albans. Was he Wilfred Harry (Billy) Minter the legendary scorer of 7 goals in an FA Cup tie St Albans LOST!?
In early 1932 Billy Minter retired from playing for St Albans, and signed for Hampstead Town, where he played about 11 games and scored nine times.
On 26th March 1932 Billy scored a hat-trick for Hampstead Town against Enfield.
Fishponder has a W.H.Minter playing for Hitchin Town two days later against Hounslow on 28th March 1932 at No 10 (a 4-1 win for Hitchin, Minter goalless). On 11th April 1932 Minter played at No 11 for Hitchin in a 1-1 draw at Lyons Club. Presumably Billy Minter was still a Hampstead Town player, so is it possible the famous Minter also played those two games for Hitchin?
