To play The Hertfordshire Senior Cup on a Wednesday, with a venue, that lacks atmosphere, and a main stand which seems twenty miles from the pitch, and the other main stand leaking water through the roof,it makes the value of this cup seem devalued, and 423 spectators says it all. Should have been played where families could be present, and a carnival atmosphere, missed opportunity to advertise non league football.
The match itself was two sides slogging it out with incessant rain, and fair play, they both battled hard.
Berkhamstead taking the lead through an excellent delivery from a corner, and after Hitchin had equalised with a goal from Finley, they scored from another set piece following a free kick, before Jack Snelus equalised through a defensive mix up.Hitchin had the chances to score, before the penalty shoot out, but a mixture of shooting wide, shots being deflected, and a deteriorating pitch put paid to that.
