DAVID KIRBY

Post by MickD »

It is with sadness that I report the recent death of David Kirby, a familiar face around the club for a great many years.

David died on Sunday 6th August. He had been ill for some while and his conditioned worsened after a fall resulting in a broken hip.

In recent years David was a frequent sighting on his mobility scooter anywhere between Purwell where he lived and the town centre. His heavy overcoat and hat were a permanent feature, even in mid summer.

For many seasons David was very active in the efforts of the Supporters Club and he and his late wife were invariably involved in the regular jumble sales that we used to hold in the Club. Foe many seasons, David manned a turnstile on matchdays alongside his old pal Ron Winch - now also no longer with us.

RIP David.

He or Ron the first face many inc myself saw whenever I visited Top Field.

Had noticed i'd not seen him about in recent months and with Dave that was quite telling sadly as he was always seen out and about.

My condolences to Brian Neville and the family. RIP David.
