As the hymn 'Yellow Football Team' got a mention from Burkey in the post match interview, I thought a thread was in order where the lyrics could be available.. here goes (not my work btw)
In the town where I was born
(Hitchin)
There was man whose shorts were green
(Mark Burke)
And he told me of his love
For a yellow football team
...
We all love our yellow football team
Our yellow football team x2

Re: Songs
Back in the seventies, especially to away cup ties,Hitchin Town arranged supporters coaches, and I remember singing along to this little ditto at the back with some fervent fans. Will put a modern version, as follows.
His name is Charlie Horlock, and he's the leader of the team,
The greatest football team that the Town has ever seen,
They play in yellow and Green, and their name is Hitchin Town,
And when they win The Southern League, this is what we'll sing.
La La La La, La La la la La, La La La La La La x 2

Re: Songs
Hi Russell, just looked the song up on Wikipedia, really interesting story, its also on you tube.It was played at every Tottenham home game for 30yrs, and is still played today as the players leave the pitch after a game.I would imagine somebody adapted the song with football linked lyrics, and then it ended up with Hitchin fans doing a similar rendition.

Re: Songs
I love all the new songs, they make me smile and its great to hear them on our stands.
Well done to the crew who sing them so loud, may they be sung by everyone home and away.
