Merthyr have advised that they are expecting the worst of any snow/ice/freeze today and tomorrow (Thursday/Friday) and have booked a pitch inspection for 8am Saturday morning. Hope we get to travel!!

Before anyone asks or says: "Why don't they call it off Friday Evening" - would agree totally with a normal pitch but remembering that Merthyr is 3G I am sure there are judgment calls involved, and they will want to get the game played if at all possible. If it isn't frozen but just soggy, it will play.

Probably nothing regular Town supporters don't know, but a good pre-match article from Merthyr:

Hopefully they will find our defence tougher than they expect as they have quoted Chippenham's record of 37 goals conceded rather than the 26 we have conceded!

Merthyr pitch has thawed this afternoon - at 10am this morning it was covered in snow. Temperature expected to drop to -1o tonight but sunny intervals are forecast for tomorrow morning and indeed when the match is on.

The 8am inspection will to be to ascertain if the pitch will thaw in time, if it is still freezing at that time. At this point I'd say we'll be travelling.

GAME OFF - just heard that the pitch is frozen so the game is postponed.
