Yellow Shirts

Post by anthony.brown »

The first mention I can find of the first Hitchin FC wearing yellow shirts is in the Herts Senior Cup Final on 18th March 1905. 'Hitchin in their bright yellow shirts and white nicks' according to the Herts Advertiser of 25th March 1905. Could these have been the Reserve team colours? Hitchin's opponents Victoria Works, Watford wore 'cocoa-coloured jerseys and white knicks' as Hitchin won the cup 3-2 at Welwyn.
The first team in their October 1905 thrashing of Chelsea FC were said to have an all white strip.
