From the very start of the Club in November 1865 (until 1869), games and practice took place at the Dog Kennel Farm, Charlton.
On 30th September 1869 games were moved to the Hitchin Cricket Club's ground.
On 7th September 1872 it was decided to move matches and practice to Mr A.Ransom's field. We know Mr Ransom had several fields in Hitchin, and was a major employer; so was this the field in the Bedford Road we now use? I've been unable to confirm it so far. We know that the field in Bedford Road now known as Top Field was sold to the Cow Commons organisation in about 1880, so if they purchased the land from Mr Ransom we may have our answer.
Discuss.
