Here's some of the history of the ban and the missing years.

The standard has improved so much since I saw my first women's match at Loftus Road - which I think must've been this one:

Let's hope for a win on Sunday & a further boost in interest at grass roots level - and more Hitchin Women's matches at Top Field this coming season.

Would really recommend the book "A Woman's Game" by Suzanne Wrack too Jacqui, reading it at the moment and it's excellent.

Colin

I can do a little earlier. I was at the 1976 Women's FA Cup Final at the old Eyrie in Bedford. Bedford hosted three FA Cup finals in the 70's before Charles Wells took the ground back and it's now the brewery.
Southampton who were the top team of the day then beating QPR 2-1 AET.

We also watched quite a few Luton Town ladies games in the mid 80's as the plastic pitch resulted in the crowd on match day getting two games for the price of one. There was always a reserve, youth or women's game prior to Luton's Division One fixture. I've even seen cricket played on the pitch on match day. One of my wife's friends played for Luton.

I think the women's game has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. I started watching the 2015 World Cup matches where we lost to Japan in the semi finals in Canada.
I stayed up until stupid o'clock and was gutted when they lost.

As it's been so hot of late I've watched most of the games and been very impressed with the standard.
There's no doubt England, Spain, France and Germany are setting new standards. The WSL and money it brings to the game helps improve the standard and attracts the best players in the world. The crowds have been tremendous and hopefully will this attract a new generation of women's footballers.
