Luton's wage bill in 2021-22 was 101% of income, in 2020-21 it was 111% of income. The Championship clubs all spend too much in a bid to win promotion. That said, Luton's wage bill was one of the lowest in the division.

Whatever their status over the next two seasons, there is an opportunity to become a little more sound financially if they don't bust themselves with player wages. Even if they do get relegated straight back down, they'll have the Premier League parachute payment for the next season. If they stay up, the reward is massive.
