Dick Walker: Angling Superstar.

Post by anthony.brown »

A fine display at North Herts Museum in Brand Street of the life and works of Dick Walker (who was born in Fishponds Road).
The 'Ranji' Adams (Hitchin FC Hall of Famer) display is also still on show there and is well worth a visit.

Thanks Anthony

I may well try to get to the Dick Walker exhibition.

There is a blue plaque on one of the houses, just passed Wilshere Dacre school, on the left hand side, to commenerate his place of birth.

Not only a huge influence on the carp and specimen fishing scene but also a big influence on the young local anglers when I was a kid.
In retirement he lived with his daughter in Ivel Gardens, Biggleswade with their house backing onto the River Ivel and would sit on the patio, watching us youngsters trying to catch.

Biggleswade's last specialist fishing tackle shop was named "Walker's Pitch" in his honour.
