The scene was set, brilliant sunshine, perfect pitch and bumper crowd,and you new within the first five minutes that Hitchin, by their movement were up for it.Usually, more often than not, on these occasions we just don't play at our best,but not today,as both teams played as if it was a cup final, with end to end stuff, frantic moves and more thrilling as the game went on.Hitchin started brightly, but were content to let Royston do most of the attacking, with both sides having chances on goal,Toby Syme keeping the half time score goaless with a superb goal line clearance.
Hitchin turned it on in the second half and were a delight to watch,with Royston playing their part, but giving away numerous free kicks,but Hitchin not profiting from any of them,until the dying minutes,when another free kick landed at the far post, and up popped Toby Syme to head the winner,sending the home fans wild,and a cluster of yellow shirts doing the same, oh happy days or what.
