Mike Harrison RIP

Post by anthony.brown » Fri Feb 01, 2019 3:16 pm

Sad to see that former Hatter Mike Harrison has died aged 78.
Town had won D4 in the season before he came to Kenilworth Road, and with the powerfully built left winger they started the 68/69 season in fine form. In Mike's first seven games for the Club, they won them all, scoring 26 goals, Mike getting 4 of them.
Fifty years ago on 1 Feb 1969 he was in the team beating Reading 2-1 at home. Later in 1969, on 25 November he was in the team which beat Fulham 1-0. In the Fulham team Johnny Haynes was playing one of his last league matches.

10 Aug 1968 (H) 4-0 Oldham 17 mins penalty
14 Aug 1968 (H) 3-0 Watford 8 mins penalty 48 mins (League Cup)
24 Aug 1968 (H) 3-1 Rotherham
26 Aug 1968 (H) 5-1 Barnsley
11 Sep 1968 (H) 4-2 Brighton (League Cup)
14 Sep 1968 (H) 3-1 Tranmere
18 Sep 1968 (H) 4-2 Mansfield 21 mins penalty (the game when Graham French scored his famous goal)
21 Sep 1968 (A) 0-1 Brighton (Howard Wilkinson scored)
24 Sep 1968 (A) 1-5 Everton (League Cup)
28 Sep 1968 (H) 1-0 Torquay
5 Oct 1968 (A) 0-1 Watford
8 Oct 1968 (A) 1-3 Barnsley
9 Nov 1968 (H) 2-0 Swindon
7 Dec 1968 (H) 3-1 Gillingham 24 mins 72 mins penalty (FA Cup)
etc
