Misprint 1970

Post by anthony.brown » Mon Aug 12, 2019 1:39 pm

On May 9th 1970 Hitchin Town FC won the London Senior Cup Final. Roy Cutler, our star striker, would have been flattered by the 'pen picture' appearing in the official programme:

Roy Cutler - Striker
Has played for Corinthian Casuals, Charlton and Stevenage and represented F.A XI and Herts.
One of the three schoolmasters in the side - has scored over 300 goals this season.

No prizes for spotting the misprint.

Around 7 goals per game and we didn't' win every game! Guess our defence must have been as dodgy as everyone else's  !

Wonder if he was on a goal bonus ? :-D
If music be the football of life, play on (extra time and pens if necessary)

Rumour had it at the time that he always had a pint of lager before the game. If true he may well have scored 300 goals had he not had the lager or maybe it was the lager talking when they asked him how many goals he'd scored 🍺.
Pessimists are never disappointed.
