Fake website

Post by Cat Daisy » Tue Nov 05, 2019 6:14 pm

Someone is using the old website address - and linking it to a different ticketing website. Content is plagiarised as well.
Needs a strongly worded message!

Not offering tickets Steve. Just a bad link to a ticket website.

No danger of fraud except by representation.

It's just an unofficial fan site. It's a compliment if anything!
Nowt we can do about it, they aren't breaking any laws. They own the domain.

Our search engine ranking is strong enough that we needn't worry about losing traffic to it. :-D

This was my favourite bit though. Definitely necessary to ensure our achievements are compared with English football's two most successful Clubs "Although the club’s trophies haul pales in comparison to the likes of Liverpool or Manchester United, supporters can still be proud of the team’s accomplishments."

Biggest question is. Who has produced it? I've got an idea...

Yeah the link takes you to a ticketing site that doesn't do Hitchin tickets - a bit pointless. It's a bit scrappy anyway - Hitch In Town?!?

If it is a fan site it should probably say that.

Stew, if you know who might have done it, maybe just "suggest" that to them :-)

I have myself sent a contact message to the site creator(s). Agree 100% with Stewart - we need to take it as a compliment and if possible work with the creators to make sure they get Club information correct. Someone has put a lot of time into it to get to where they have.

Have asked them to use the correct link to the ticket website.

Think the Hitch In Town is probably an intended play on words??

I would suggest that this has been set up by livetickets, using the Hitchin tag to drive traffic to their site.
I get a lot of content marketing companies contacting me and one in particular claims to be sporting hospitality and when you link through it goes to livetickets. It’s a sneaky way of driving people to their site.
The Hitchin site is just token content.
