SPECIAL VISITOR TO TOP FIELD
Given how the pitch looked on Saturday many of you will not have realised the battle the ground staff team have been having over the last couple of weeks. We have been suffering from significant damage as a result of crows looking to dig down below the turf looking for food. This has been resulting in daily damage similar to that shown below.

Ahead of Saturday’s match Steve and the team spent several hours having to make repairs to ensure the pitch was in a suitable condition for the match against Hadley. Within hours however, the damage had returned on Sunday morning. All attempts so far have failed to deter the Crows. So today we welcomed a special visitor in the form of a Zeus the Harris Hawk. The aim is that by flying the Harris Hawk in the area this should provide an effective non-lethal method of scaring the crows away from the site so that they find roosting or feeding sites elsewhere. The crows will hopefully then avoid the area as they believe that there is a predator there. Fingers crossed this will ensure the grounds staff can now focus on just there normal duties to keep the Top Field pitch looking as perfect as always.
