FIXTURES

  • Wednesday 20th August home to Boreham Wood kick-off 7.30pm. Please note this game has been moved from Tuesday because of the extreme heat warning issued by the Met Office. We apologise for the inconvenience but the health and welfare of players and spectators must come first. Tickets must be purchased online. Prices are adults £8, concessions £5 , teenagers £2 and under 13’s £1. Over 80’s are free.

The league fixtures were announced today. Full details are on all our social media outlets.

MANAGER’S NOTES

TRAINING
I have been pleased with the recent training sessions . All the players have been working really hard and they have been taking on board the instructions from the coaching staff as we aim to outline our pattern of play.

BOREHAM WOOD
Boreham Wood will be sending their first team squad to Top Field on Wednesday and it will be good to renew acquaintances with manager Luke Garrard and his team. They had an incredible FA Cup run last season winning at Bournemouth before eventually going out at Goodison Park to Everton in the fifth round. I attended the game and was proud of ex Canary Kane Smith’s performance.

We won the corresponding friendly last year and while pre-season games are not just about results I am sure Luke Garrard will be looking for revenge.

PLAYER NEWS

  • Josh Coldicott-Stevens requires surgery on his foot and will not be available for the immediate future.
  • Lewis Barker’s head wound from the Stevenage game has healed quicker than we anticipated and he has resumed light training.
  • Despite our best efforts Max Hercules who played in our earlier friendlies has decided to sign for Royston.

ACADEMY UPDATE BY MICHAEL JONES

First Team Involvement
We have now had 6 players involved in the first team so far in Pre – Season in the games against Luton Town, Stevenage FC and Letchworth. A great experience for the young canaries, especially the Luton game that was played in front of such a big crowd, that will of course live long in the memories of all involved.

Pre Season Training
We are in the process of finalising our final preparations for the start of our Academy pre season training. We are due to start on Monday 1st August.

LUTON TOWN UNDER 23’S
We hosted a friendly on Tuesday between Luton Town Under 23’s and Crawley Green. A very healthy attendance of 130 witnessed the game which was won comfortably by Luton.
