WEEKLY BULLETIN: 15TH MAY

Manager’s Notes

Presentation Evening

Wednesday was our presentation evening and it was great to be able to celebrate such a good season.

Everyone involved with the club gave so much to help us achieve success and it was brilliant to be able to reward everyone for their hard work and effort.

Player News

I am currently finalising our retained list for the upcoming season and I am hoping to be able to share this with everyone soon.

I am also in the process of meeting with potential new additions to our club and I am hoping in the next few weeks we will be able to announce some exciting new additions to the club.

Pre-Season

I am delighted we have been able to confirm Luton Town FC as one of our pre-season friendlies. Thank you to everyone connected with Luton Town FC for organising this fixture on what should be a great day for our club.

We have also confirmed one other home friendly against a professional club and another one against a full time team. We have also confirmed 3 away friendly matches against non-league opposition.

Next Season

Please rest assured that we will be working tirelessly in the off season to continue the progression the club has made this season and look to build on the momentum we have. We will keep working hard to make sure we continue to move in the right direction and provide a team that everyone can be proud of.

Presentation Evening

On Wednesday our presentation evening took place at the Canary Club. It was as expected a very upbeat event with smiling faces all around as there was plenty to celebrate. The Play-Off trophy and Herts Senior Cup took pride of place on the stage as players, officials, volunteers and supporters came together to enjoy the meal provided by Canary Kitchen and then saw the various awards handed out.

Chairman Paul Sprague welcomed everyone and went on to thank all sections of the club for their efforts over the season. He emphasised the fact that the club is about more than just the players as volunteers and supporters are an integral part of the club. He did praise the team for winning promotion at the first time of asking and paid tribute to manager Michael Jones.

Michael then took the microphone and  reviewed the season mentioning both the highs and lows. He was very grateful to how the players had responded to the relegation and took on board what the management required. It was a slow start which was expected but as the season went on the team got better and better. He congratulated Leighton on winning the league but was so pleased with how the players approached two very tough play-off games.

Michael was quick to praise all sections of the club from the management committee to the ground staff to the volunteers and to the supporters. He said Hitchin Town was a very special club and he was proud to be the manager. He said he was looking forward to the return to the premier division and was certain we would be better prepared than in recent seasons.

It was then on to the presentations and full details for all our 2025/26 season award winners are available here: https://hitchintownfc.club/2025-26-awards/

Save The Date – Cider and Cheese Festival

We are delighted to announce that our popular Cider and Cheese Festival is back again, so save the dates of Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July 2025. Entrance is FREE.

There will be a selection of ciders and perries to suit every taste hand-picked by our experts. Ranging from the ultra-strong to low or alcohol free, sweet to dry, we will have something to tempt you.  A selection of cheeses and snacks will be available too.

The venue will be our very own Canary Club from noon each day until 11pm.
As usual the event will coincide with the Hitchin Festival. We will also be close to the new season with pre-season friendlies underway – what better excuse for a visit pre- or post-match.

All proceeds from the festival are donated to the Club to help improve our facilities and we rely on the generosity of sponsors and volunteers to run the event. If you can help either by sponsoring a cider or giving your time to help with the running of the event, please contact either Ian.c.murrell@gmail.com or Mick Docking, who would be delighted to speak to you.
