WEEKLY BULLETIN – 23RD JUNE

MANAGER’S NOTES WITH MARK BURKE

I was disappointed that Josh Coldicott-Stevens decided to leave Hitchin and I would like to thank him for his contribution over recent seasons. However I was very pleased to get two further signings confirmed. Kavan Cotter only came back to Top Field at the end of last season and had few chances to show his potential but he will be a very good acquisition as will Isaac Galliford. Isaac returns to Top Field and I am sure supporters will remember how impressive he was in his first spell.

I am now happy with the squad I have signed up and as I said last week the recruitment has gone better than I could have dared to hope. However I will continue to look to improve the squad and if the right player becomes available I would want to sign him. I will also be assessing various triallists who are coming to our early training sessions.

On Thursday night we had the first training session of the new season. It was well attended and players were so keen they were turning up really early. While it was quite a gentle session the players worked really hard. There was a very good atmosphere and the players seemed to be pleased to be back. There will be another session on Saturday which will include an internal training game which will give a chance to triallists to show what they have to offer.

KIT AID
We recently donated five complete kits to Kit Aid and these will be distributed around the world. This is not the first time we have donated to this worthwhile charity and we would like to thank Matt Tutton for his continuing excellent work for Kit Aid.

LEAGUE AGM
Last Saturday I attended the League AGM at Kenilworth. As you can imagine AGM’s are not the most exciting events but they have to take place. The League’s constitution was agreed and various rule changes were explained and accepted. Our chairman Terry Barratt was up for re-election as a league director and I am pleased to say he was successful with an overwhelming majority backing him.

The highlight of the AGM was when I received the trophy for Hitchin winning the Southern League team of the month for the Central division for April. It is always good to get some silverware!

IT’S A WEEK AND COUNTING –CIDER PREVIEW BY MICK DOCKING
A bit like one of Burkey’s signing announcements?

Making possibly its first appearance in North Herts since the last time, why not over indulge in this little beauty. It will probably take you less time to drink it than to read the description.

A delicious combination of dessert apple cider with blackberry juice and elderflower infusion. This artful combination captures the essence of Somerset’s sunny hedgerows. A crimson-red cider scented with aromatic elderflower with the slight fruity sharpness natural to hedge blackberries.

Opening doors at noon on Friday 30th June. What a way to welcome in summer.

PRE-SEASON GAMES
The first pre-season games are just two weeks away as we play Luton X1 on Saturday 8th July.
