MANAGER’S NOTES WITH MARK BURKE

Bromsgrove Sporting

We returned to Top Field on Saturday from Bromsgrove without a point, after agonisingly conceding in the 95th minute of the match to lose 2-1. This was hard to take as we had dragged ourselves back into the game when Finley Wilkinson scored in the 87th minute.

I felt overall we deserved a point from the game as we dominated possession in the 2nd half but just lacked that little bit of quality in the final third. Our approach play was once again very good, but we were just lacking in the execution of chances created or we were making wrong decisions when passing or crossing when in good positions in the Bromsgrove penalty area.

I am still happy with the start we have had to the season and as long as we keep playing the way we are when we are in possession and we can convert the opportunities we are creating then I think we can be competing for a top 10 place.

AFC Sudbury

We only played AFC Sudbury at home 6 weeks ago in the FA Cup which was a much closer game than the 3-0 scoreline suggests. Sudbury didn’t play last weekend, so I expect them to be fresh when they arrive today, and I am sure they will be looking for revenge.

Sudbury are a good technical team that are well organised and will be hard to beat, we will have to be more clinical than we were last week at Bromsgrove if we are going to get anything from the game tomorrow.

Stratford

On Tuesday we visit Stratford who before Saturday’s games are three points behind us. I watched them at Berkhamsted on Tuesday and they made a good start to the game going in to a 2-0 lead before an impressive comeback from Berko. Stratford have some good quality players and we will need to be at our best to return to Top Field with any reward.

THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS BY KATE DELLER
The Club would like to thank our volunteers. September and October it is safe to say have been very busy months! Not only a drain on our loyal supporters but also extra work for our loyal volunteers.

As you know the Club is run solely on the help of these wonderful people. So a big shout out to anyone who has volunteered the last two months. We really have appreciated your help in ensuring the matches went ahead.

If anyone would like to step forward and help at the Club, please do pop in the Club Shop and make yourself known. Also please do give a smile and cheer to these wonderful helpers.

Thank you Volunteers

COALVILLE
It would appear that we upset Coalville with our recent comeback victory. In their two subsequent games they have beaten Berkhamsted 9-0 at home and then won 6-0 at Long Eaton!

TOP PIES AT TOP FIELD BY PAUL SPRAGUE
This weekend see’s the launch of our fantastic new range of Hitchin Town FC Pies at the Canary Kitchen. Make sure you give this fantastic new addition to the menu a try and be sure to let us know what you think. Full details are below—

‘We love to talk to our customers on a match day and see what it is the people are wanting for their match day refreshments. One thing that has come up time and time again recently is our pies which we had last season. We were unable to continue with the same pies from last year, so have been hard at work to find a suitable (or we think better) alternative…

We are delighted to announce that from this Saturday’s game against AFC Sudbury, The Canary Kitchen will be launching our very own Canaries range of HTFC branded pies!

We have 3 different flavours available on Saturday…
Beef Brisket
Chicken Balti
Brocolli, Cauliflower & Cheese (Vegan)

These will each be served with Mashed Potato & Gravy for only £5.00 as our Match Day Special!

From November onwards these, as well as additional flavours, will be available on each match day from both our Main Canary Kitchen and the Bedford Road Drinks Stand.’
