Weekly Bulletin from Roy

This week’s news has been fully covered on the website and includes the presentation evening, Brett Donnelly’s departure to Biggleswade Town and the fact that we will be playing in the new Central division of the Southern League next season.

But as this will be the last weekly bulletin for a while I must firstly thank Mark Burke. Every week he has allowed me to interview him and this has meant supporters have been able to get his view on each performance together with his thoughts on upcoming fixtures. I think you will agree with me that Mark is always very honest in his opinions and has always been prepared to be critical if necessary as well as handing out plaudits for good performances. Even after bad defeats Mark has always agreed to speak to me when I am sure he would have been preferred to forget what happened. Hopefully this has helped supporters to get a great insight in to the highs and lows of a season.

Mark has also given regular updates on any player injuries or absences to keep supporters in the loop. The weekly bulletin has also endeavoured to keep supporters up to date with all the news from around the club together with regular updates on Hitchin Town Ladies FC and our Academy side. A lot of time and effort is spent compiling the bulletin but I think it is important that we engage with supporters and provide this service which few other clubs are able to do..

I must also thank Brett Donnelly for his weekly blog which has proved so popular. It is really sad that Brett has decided to leave. I know it was a difficult decision for him to make but for his future career he really had to accept the offer from Biggleswade Town. Brett really does care about Hitchin Town and nobody should doubt how much he put in to the club. I have asked him to do one final blog where he will look back on the last few seasons and I have also asked him to do one special blog from Biggleswade next season. I hope Brett has great success in his managerial career (except when he comes up against Hitchin!)

To round off the season it is right that all the people who make up Hitchin Town Football Club are thanked. The players and management team have again delivered silverware and were backed up by the physio team and kit managers. It takes a large number of individuals to ensure the club is run properly and that match days go off smoothly so it would be unfair to name individuals but from the Executive Committee through to match day helpers everybody has played an important part. Last but not least many thanks to the supporters. We are very lucky to have a really loyal following both home and away and the club is really grateful for your support. Without you there is no club!

I will provide news updates through the close season including details of pre season friendlies and new signings together with any other Top Field news.

Please enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing you again in July.
