WELCOME BACK JOSH BICKERSTAFF
Michael Jones has added to his coaching team with the return of a familiar face, Josh Bickerstaff. Josh made 320 appearances for the Canaries between 2010 and 2020 before injury forced him to retire as a player and move into a coaching role. Josh moved into Mark Burke’s backroom team as a first team coach working alongside Michael Jones. When Mark’s time as manager came to an end Josh moved across to Biggleswade United. Having spent the last season there, Josh made the decision in April to take a break from football and left Biggleswade United.
Having seen this decision it didn’t take Michael long to call Josh and look to persuade him to return to Hitchin Town instead.
Commenting on the move Josh Bickerstaff said:
After more than 15 years constantly involved with semi professional football this summer felt like the right time to take some time out and to focus on my family commitments. However, Michael was very persuasive and I am really excited about what we can achieve in the crucial season ahead at Hitchin Town. Everyone knows I am a Hitchin Town supporter and when the club comes knocking like Michael did it ended up being impossible for me to turn it down. I cant wait to get started working with a great squad that Michael, Stephen and Kieron have worked tirelessly to assemble during the break.
Michael Jones commented on Josh’s return saying:
I was really pleased when Josh agreed to return to Hitchin Town and re-join the first team coaching squad. Josh is great to have around the place and will really complement the rest of the team. I am looking forward to getting the chance to work alongside him again this season to ensure we get the absolute best out of the squad.
