SUPPORTERS TRUST – HELP BRETT BUILD HIS SQUAD

It’s already seven weeks since the curtain fell on the 2023/24 season and my word, it’s all been happening at Top Field!

From getting used to the idea that the Canaries had been relegated and that Brett would be setting about putting a team together to get us back to the Premier division again, all of a sudden Coalville resigned from the league and it’s a reprieve for us and we’re back in the Premier again already!

We’ve seen quite the changing of the guard with many familiar faces both players and backroom staff departing Top Field, while the last couple of weeks have seen the announcement of several players arriving, some for the first time and others making a welcome return after previous spells with the club.

One thing that will not be changing next season is that the Hitchin Town Supporters’ Trust will continue to play its part by contributing to the club’s weekly playing budget. Amazingly this will be the Trust’s 20th season of contributing and it is a testament to the loyalty of Hitchin Town supporters that we still have several members who have been contributing continually since the Trust was set up in 2005.

Sadly, the Trust has seen a number of members pass away over the years (some of our larger contributors in fact) and the overall number of contributors has decreased, but despite the struggles of last season we saw an amazing increase in attendances at Top Field and it would be great if some of our new supporters could join the Trust. You don’t have to be a new supporter though; contributions are welcome from everyone. You may even be one of those supporters who has moved away but follows the fortunes of the club from afar – internet banking means you can contribute without the need for posting a cheque or handing over a brown envelope full of cash!

Times are currently financially hard for so many, and the Trust committee totally appreciates that, but if you are in the fortunate position to be able to contribute, we would be delighted to hear from you. Contributions big and small are all gratefully received and even for the price of a coffee or a beer a week you could help Brett as he continues to build a new squad that can be competitive in the Southern League Premier Central division in 2024/25.

Despite the relegation that never was, there was already a lot of optimism for the future amongst people I spoke to and that only seems to have increased as the new arrivals have been announced, so please drop me a line if you would like to help the Trust help Hitchin Town FC in the new season.

Thank you!
